BattleNet yes, WotLK no

I'm having to post this using my wife's account.
Can't log in to WoW. It's not yet November the 11th but my login didn't work and said:
This account is now attached to a Battle.net account. Please log in with your Battle.net account email address and password.
I went through the merge process. The new login data from Battle net doesn't work at WotLK login screen. (Yet? Time delay? Something to do with maintenance?)
Can't post in forums because I can't login in on my old WoW account name and when I (am forced to) use the new battle net account it doesn't have any associated characters and I get:
Login Select
There are no available characters.

Under BattleNet
Had a very old battle net account. The login was a Name not an email address. But I found a path.
Now if I go to my Battle Net account and try to "Merge a World of Warcraft® Account"
This account has already been merged into a Battle.net account.

In WoW WotLK login:
There is no World of Warcraft game account associated with this Battle.net account.

If I go back to Battle net and login with the new Battle.net account that says it's already merged and try to add a game (Using any of the 3 CD codes I have for WoW, BC and WotLK) I get:
You have entered a World of Warcraft® key that is currently not supported in Battle.net account management.
This type of key can be redeemed through the World of Warcraft® account management page.

But when I follow that link or try to login at www.worldofwarcraft.com through Account Management it drops me at
https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/no-wow-accounts.html
Which says I can go to
http://www.battle.net/account/
which takes me back to where I have to add a game.

There appears to be no exit from this infinitely annoying loop.

Sounds as though you've been compromised, Ranya.

This is a common tactic when an account is stolen. Really pretty basic - not that much different than any other compromise, you will want to give Billing a ring first to get the merge sorted out.

After they have this undone and you are back into control, standard procedures can go forward.

Security is extremely important here. Someone had to have obtained your password and ID to have done that merge, so how they got that information is vital. If they still CAN get in, they WILL be back.

You may also want to look into getting an authenticator for your account. It's no substitute for good security habits, but it will keep anyone else out of your WoW account.

I do wish you all the very best on a speedy recovery.

Q u o t e:
I did the merge. I used my WoW login to do it. I can login to the battle net account.
I can't add a game because of the loop mentioned. And I'm guessing that that's the reason that WotLK doesn't see the battle net account it IS associated with.
I just can't add a game under "Manage My Games."
It would seem nothing has been compromised or I wouldn't have been able to merge the account. I used the account a couple days ago. And I'm very meticulous about passwords.
I'm guessing it has to do with propagation of information versus maintenance.

Ahhh, then I misunderstood your post, Ranya.

I thought you meant it was saying it was merged yet it wasn't you who had done it.

This may be a bit of latency in the system, yes - that is one possibility. As you can imagine, this is a popular function today.

We have maintenance in just a few hours. You may want to try looking at this again after the realms come back online. If this still seems to be the case, giving Billing a ring to see what may have gone amiss is likely in order.

Sounds like this is involving your OLD Battle.net account - and those really aren't the same.

I'd give Billing a ring on this in the morning. They should be able to help sort this out for you.

Unless you can create a new one and it works, that is probably your best option at the moment.

Just changing your email on an OLD Battle.net account won't make it a NEW type of Battle.net account to my knowledge.

Does that make any sense?
