I just tried to buy an authenticator and I have to have a BattleNet account to do so?

-_-

Ok, fine. Since I'm mysteriously getting hacked with not a single virus on my machine and am being forced into it, fine. How much is this going to cost me and how do I set it up? Or since I know there is always a plethora of stickies would someone mind pointing me to the "BattleNet for Dummies" one? Thanks.

You are not required to have a merged Battle.Net account if you simply want to purchase an Authenticator, Mistalya. You should be able to get one of these nifty little items off the Blizzard Store for $6.50: (http://www.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=1100000622). If you would like to download the Mobile Authenticator, you will be required to have a Battle.Net account. The price, however, really depends on the phone provider; if you have an iPhone, or iPod Touch, you can get the application for free via iTunes. I am not sure what charges may apply for other phones/providers, you are free to look this up here: (https://us.battle.net/account/support/mobile-auth-download.xml).

Q u o t e:
I guess I'm mistaken, but way back when... I thought I had to register for a "Blizzard Account" in order to make a purchase at the Blizzard Store. Guess I'm getting forgetful in old gnome age.

Sorry, my mistake for not clarifying. You are not required to have a merged Battle.Net account. Meaning, you can create a B.Net account for the store, and continue playing under your previous account name, without having to use the newly created B.Net account as you username.
