Need Roll Tie: Why did the other guy get it?

My sister has a ticket in to a gm but she's got to go to work so can't stay on to get her answer. I'm hoping I can get a response for her here.

Earlier today my sister who was group lead for a Coren Direbrew run saw the Great Brewfest Kodo mount drop.

The whole group rolled need as did she. She and another player tied with the highest roll, yet the game gave the other player the item with no explanation.

Why didn't it give them the chance to roll again and why did it give the item to the other player? Doesn't seem very fair if you ask me.

Also her character's name starts with a K his started with a P, so it's not decided alphabetically from what I can figure out.

Is there any way she can get reimbursed for this digital injustice? Is there any chance A GM could reward her with the mount as well since she rolled the same number as him?

Thanks for your time. As always blue posts are more than welcome!

Q u o t e:
When there is a tie, the game does an internal roll (that you can't see). The other player won that roll.

This is absolutely correct. In the event of a tied roll, another internal (invisible) roll occurs. The highest roller for that second roll will receive the item.
