So Cata raids won't be doable in 80 gear?

Well, blizz said that Cataclysm armor (especially for tanks) is going to contain a lot more stam and a lot less everything else. Does that mean the new bosses are going to hit a LOT harder and that they won't be doable in 80 gear, which apparently is going to lack the needed health to survive even one shot?

I think this is a needed change, so content wont be cleared three days after release. Try and guess the last raid that wasn't cleared first reset (hint: it was a floaty thing in the sky that moved from WPL to dragonblight.)

We're still pretty far off from specifically tuning and itemizing what will be the level 85 end game in Cataclysm, so it's a little early to give a clear answer on this one. ;)

bad Zar, NO!

correct awnser is

"Yes you will have to go through the heroics and spend the gold from questing to acquire a decent set of gear to start out raiding higher content, Also I will be giving Stormraught an Epic flying mage mount that is possibly a unicorn bread with a dragon."

I figured that was all implied. :p

Is only new cata geargoing through this new itemizing deal. Or is all gear currently available going to be seeing this change ?

It's still a little early to confirm how current Wrath of the Lich King items will be affected by the stat changes being implemented with Cataclysm.

The information I'm providing in this thread is awesome. Cherish it.

Mastery, from my understand, buffs the buffs that you get from talent tree specs. Like, if you spec into Blood for example, you might get more crit. Or strength. Or something of a bonus. Mastery INCREASES that passive buff, so you get even MORE of a buff.

This is basically correct. Spending talent points in a given tree will automatically give you passive Mastery stat increases beneficial to that tree. It leaves room for players to spend their talent points on more flavorful or fun talents without sinking so many points into necessary passive DPS, healing, or tanking stats. Again, the details are still being ironed out, but that's the basic concept.

so... does that mean over half the rogue talents are being deleted then?

I haven't heard word yet that rogues get to play Cataclysm. :p

It is, as well as a stat.

The stat improves the passive bonus (or bonuses) of whatever tree you spec into, as I understand it.

So, you'll get mastery from speccing into your talent trees and additional mastery from gear.

Correct, at least as taken from the information provided at BlizzCon.

I also thought I read somewhere that Stamina was going to be standardize across all gear.

IE your Mage has the same amount of Stamina as your Warrior.

The idea is more to decrease the disparity in health pools between cloth and plate wearers. A distinction will still exist in the ability to mitigate damage taken.

You are mean, terrible floating skull.

Confirm something. I don't care what it is.

I can confirm the information we provided at BlizzCon reflects a portion of our current intentions for shaping game play in Cataclysm and that there are still a number of details to flesh out. ;)

Class mounts for everybody, IMO.

They have the idle animation of flipping off any nearby Warlocks.

Zarhym, question. How will mastery affect a pet classes' pets? As blizzard is trying to make all rating stats also affect the pets at present, will mastery be exempt from this or will it too affect pets in some way for specs other than BM/demonology?

That's an excellent question.
