Battle.net account hacking

My friend can't access his account, so I'll post this thread for him.

Say someone, for some reason, gains knowledge of your pass and changes it. You can then normally recover your account via the account recovery panel.
What if the hacker changes your World of Warcraft account to a Battle.net account?
Being forced for account recovery to enter your username, you cannot gain control of your account anymore, because its name has been changed to a Battle.net adress created by the Hacker.
The same applies on the Battle.net recovery panel: if the hacker changes your account's active E-mail adress, you can't do a thing to regain access to your account.

I am posting this thread because one of my friends cannot log on to WoW because his account is registered for Battle.net (of course, he never did such a thing). He can't recover his account either because of the reasons I explained previously.

Is there a way for him to take his account back?
Thank you very much for your help.

Sure you can regain control, but in this scenario, a call to Billing to get those changes sorted out does come first.

After that, if there are any damages, this is very much like any other compromised account in terms of steps and procedures.

Right. My friend told me that what was written on the help-mails was useless for his case.
I suggested he called. But when he did, it said "user busy". He tried again later, later, a week later, to no avail.
Have you any solution to this?
Thanks.

If you are referring to calling Billing, just need to keep trying. Mondays do tend to be their busiest day, also it's important to remember their hours of operation are based on Pacific Time.

Thanks, I'm glad to know we are not the only one who this happens to...
Well, we'll just have to call again, and again, and again....

If you are outside the US, are you trying to use a land-line, or a cell phone? I've heard reports before of our 800 numbers not playing nicely at times with cell phone carriers.

I will now ask for one simple thing from you:

We NEED the battle.net adress associated with the <removed> account.
If that simple step is done, we can recover, after 6 months, the account.
Thanks for your help

You need to get ahold of Billing, Nylia. Please, don't ever post any kind of account name in public, it's just unwise.

Anyway, if you are having an issue with the Singapore number, you could try the international one. That isn't toll-free, but if you use a program such as Skype, it will cost very little - if anything. Lots of our players have reported good results with that.

When you tried the number, was it from a land-line, or a cell-phone? Many numbers won't work the same on a cell-phone.
