But is fun.

And that is the key. She's been revamped for level 80 players primarily for the fun factor. We feel the upcoming five-year anniversary gave us a good opportunity to bring back one of the original and most notorious raid bosses to the end game of today. She isn't really meant to be a step in Wrath of the Lich King raiding progression. She's back to give old school players a bit of nostalgia, as well as give players newer to the game a chance to experience her for the first time aside from just going out to kill a boss meant for level 60 players.

We hope you enjoy the commemoration. Good luck on scoring yourself a Brood of Onyxia! :)

Changing a 4 year old boss's hp and updating the stats is not "releasing additional endgame encounters"

Bear in mind this isn't even a major content patch. Patch 3.2.2 is coming hot off the heels of major content patch 3.2.0. We typically don't release new encounters of any kind in minor content patches.

its a 20 minute raid that drops free epics and resets every 14 hours, whats not to love

That is being hotfixed very soon. She will be on a 7-day timer.

Is it going to reset Wednesdays or Tuesdays with every other raid?
I know this seems like a stupid question, but a guildie is kinda freaking about getting it done tonight before the supposed reset.

The raid will reset with maintenance as with most raids. The hotfix should apply retroactively so that those who have killed Onyxia today and are seeing the reset time listed for tomorrow will notice their timers change, but I can't confirm this with certainty yet.
