Can't socket gem

I cannot put my delicate cardinal ruby (not a unique equip) into a yellow socket in my new shoulders. Unless having to match sockets was changed (GM said it was not) this is extremely irritating. I tried waiting in case it was server lag, I personally am not lagging, it did not work. Gem simply sits in the socket but will not actually socket in. I reset my UI completely, deleted the 3 folders, watched the starter video. I am sick of waiting on a ticket.
