Hackers and Blizzard

I recently had a hacker trying to hack me for 3 weeks and went thru the process of cleaning my pc, having computer professions scan my pc for key loggers and even had blizzard shut my account down while they investigated. The first time was when I found my password changed and didn't think much so changed it. Second time I had my account locked by blizzard where they believed it had been hacked and sure enough it had but they must have shut it down while the hacker was starting to liquidate one of my level 80's. I went thru changing my password, having my pc scanned and then having professionals at a computer repair place scan my entire pc system and make sure I had no viruses or key loggers. I hooked the pc up, played and then went to work. When I returned the hacker had stripped all my toons, left them at the mail boxes(guess he mailed the gold to his toons and blizzard had my account shut down for investigation again, since a password reset and another email was waiting in my emailbox telling me about all this.

I fail to see how blizzard can't find who the hacker mails the gold to when sometime back they restored all the stuff lost in everyone's mail back to them. They had to go thru the systems and see who sent what to who and restore it all. When I asked blizzard did they find the hacker or who hacked me they replied with we are not allowed to discuss anything about another person or account. I never asked for the name of the hacker just have they found who did it. I recently merged battlenet with the wow account and have sent for a blizzard authenticator ill be adding to the wow account if blizzard restores all that the hacker stole, which includes all from the guild I run as well.

You would think blizzard can find these hackers or least which toons they mailing the gold to. Also I still want to know if you found the hacker who hacked me or will my toons be hacked again? I've had a lot of friends get hacked on wow recently and seems to me the hackers are winning. If the hackers keep hacking the clients and are able to evade blizzard who has millions and can hires people to track these people down, then what hope is there fo rus. I can't play with my 80's since they are naked till I get my gear back except to farm ore or herbs. Regearing them takes a lot of time and whats the point if I can be hacked so easily?

Q u o t e:
Agree... so much money they make and yet this still happens, my account was hacked this morning, i get a call from my uncle asking me if i was logged in.... cause the GB was empty and gold gone etc.. i log on just to see i was in the process of getting hacked... chars stripped, banks emptied even chars deleted, i have been playing since July 2007 with no issues what so ever about account security etc...... just recently merged my account with Battlenet and wham i get hacked, of course i scan for viruses keyloggers... and none so what happened here, i don't surf porn sites as many suggested ,thats what they all say when something like this happens, i dont buy gold or use any meens to help me advance in this game, i don't cheat in any way or form, of course after this many people are going to say really nasty things about me but who cares, there are many legit people playing this game and i am one of them, its just sad that some are at least trying to enjoy this game and others are just there to ruin it. I just hope they can restore some of my chars and other things, if not well World of Warcraft will be gone from my life and im sure this will happen to some more poeple and many will follow, great game but not worth the money if its that easy to hack people like that.

Please do not bump old threads. It can help to avoid this to select 'Latest Reply' from the Sort By drop-down menu on the upper right of the forum index.

Additionally, the how profitable World of Warcraft is has no bearing on the account security our players implement. The heart of account security rests with system security - which in turn is related to an individual's choices, level of caution and technical security.

We are happy to provide resources by which our players might better secure their systems, but it would be inefficient, invasive and inappropriate for us to attempt to do so on behalf of our players. Here are links to some of those resources:
