Server maintance all the time?

I am new to WoW and i highly enjoy every aspect about the game except how often the servers are down due to maintance. It gets kinda aggervating that you we pay as much as we do and dont get to play. i know the maintence is to help the servers, fix bugs, update, etc. But i feel everyone should be compensated with time or something when servers are down. Please reply. Thanks=D
