Vrak, this forum is out of control, why are you all wasting your time in this thread that should have been locked after the OP posted?

This is the Customer Support Forum, Or am I in the wrong forum?

It takes a second to post a hello or other comment, Bullwinkel. The forum is not out of control and we allow one OT thread to exist.

You may be in the wrong forum though, it depends what your issue is. If it is covered in an existing thread, like the one about the current authentication issue, try that.

Hey all,

In light of many of your posts, I felt it necessary to touch on a few topics and concerns. As many of you know, we've commented on the issue pertaining to how we expect responses to posts to be. I would like to clarify some points related to those concerns in an attempt to foster a more positive outlook on the situation.

I hope that those of you that feel there is too much negativity towards this forum and yourselves (as a whole) can take this to heart without feeling like we're attempting to tell you to be quiet. Because it's quite the opposite; many of you are very helpful and we very much do appreciate your assistance here. Not only do you help bring about a community on this forum, but you do tend to provide excellent assistance for your fellow players.

Unfortunately, we are always bound to find the bad eggs, as it were, and they will always be there to stir the pot. What we have to do is understand that their frustration is not because of you — unless you've instigated something, intentional or otherwise — but rather that they just want their issue fixed. And they — and it's understandable that they do — want their issue addressed by an authoritative figure.

It helps if you try to put it into their perspective — granted, some are just obstinate — and try to see where they are coming from if they happen to make some unnecessary, backhanded comment. If you feel that you're unable to help them without being frustrated or without making an argumentative comment of your own, don't. Just let them be. If they're unable to receive help from all of you who would much rather provide assistance than defend your position, but others are... maybe they'll take that to heart.

All that we ask of all of you is that you try and foster a helpful, friendly environment. The ad hominem attacks on both sides are quite unnecessary, and when one responds in kind, it does not lead to a friendly discussion. We realize that there are those whom you're not going to dissuade from being a bit asinine, but as I said, all we ask is that you don't add to the illogical commentary about whether or not ad verecundiam arguments are correct.

Q u o t e:
GMs have our email addresses and are well capable of sending regulars all an email explaining what they want to change rather than let the regulars be spanked by other posters. Would be very odd kind of public relations if what you describe was their intent, I think.
When it's appropriate, we may send an email to those we feel need a personal reminder of things; however, we are not in the business of sending emails to everyone. The threads in question are perfectly legitimate discussions about Customer Service and this forum; the only issue is that they tend to delve into petty arguments about whether or not someone may have been a bit more curt than needed.

Unfortunately, they are also a perfect example of the issues that many players have raise concern about; obviously there are the extraneous asinine comments that are made regarding the issue, but that doesn't mean they're always wrong. We do not wish you to be "spanked" by other players, but if someone has an issue which they feel negatively affects the service that we are able to provide, we are more than willing to discuss it accordingly.

As I mentioned before, our expectations are quite simple: friendly, helpful and fun. I know that it can be hard to respond to someone that just insulted you, but there are many more ways to prove them wrong than by arguing with them. An interesting turn of phrase that I've always liked is "kill them with kindness"; obviously this doesn't mean literally kill them, but rather defeat their argument simply by proving them wrong and not giving them anything legitimate to attack you on.

I hope that helps to clarify our position on the matter, and that we can all work together to make this a fun, safe place to receive and provide assistance to those in need. =)

P.S. My apologies for this being a bit long. ^_^

I meant that CSF GMs are capable of sending anyone and everyone a reminder email if you think someone has, or someones have, stepped over the line. Not that you'd send every regular who walked the earth.
Oh, I figured as much... I just wanted to clarify the point. ;)
Q u o t e:
Bot's gotta do what a bot's gotta do.

Well, I'm sure many of you have noticed that the box we get to post is a wee bit small and sometimes when I write, I just keep writing. So, I don't necessarily realize how long the post is until I hit preview. =P

I'm extending this OT thread by one post and ending it. I would rather not carry this conversation on in the next thread if I can avoid it.

Q u o t e:
A few of these posters have seemed to become "regulars" themselves as I've seen them posting here for several weeks now...

We tend to notice the repeat antagonizers as well, Scuba, we are aware that they pop in simply to stir things up. I have a few on my radar currently but as some of you know from experience simply being a jerk isn't always a recipe for a suspension. We try to give fair warning before taking additional actions. In other words we try to extend to them the same leeway that we do everyone else, we understand a certain level of frustration and some may be forgiven.

Try to remember that you guys are a bit more prolific with the posts so one visiting person posting once or twice in an antagonizing manner isn't always as recognizable. We quash what we can when we see it but there are times when we may miss some of those posts.
Q u o t e:

And by fine I meant I dont attack people, so Im not changing a thing.

Doestheal, I have noticed on several occasions when you were very antagonistic in your posts. Perhaps you may not recognize that fact, if you wish I will be happy to point out those occasions in the future, if they occur. I don't want this to be directed at any one person, but those two posts seem to be asking for additional input. <3

I would prefer to focus on the future and I hope that you all understand how much you are appreciated, regulars, lurkers and newcomers alike.
