WoW: Cataclysm - Shaman tanks gone for good?

Hello

I paid to see the blizzcon live over internet, and saw that you are making big changes to stats and items in the coming expansion.

to quote:
Defense: The Defense statistic is also being removed from items so that players no longer have to worry about juggling around "the cap." Tanks will receive the necessary anti-crit from talents, like Survival of the Fittest.

My question now is, on my shaman i have gathered up a lot of odd gear to make it possible for me to reach the def cap. When Cataclysm is out, will all that gear be useless for me? and also more importently, will my shaman be getting a Survival of the Fittest talent so i can once again be a mighty tank(which is very much fun)?

This is from the Shaman Q&A we did a couple months ago:

"Once upon a time there was a potential tanking role for shamans as well, but we have pretty much phased that out."

We haven't considered Shaman to be tanks for awhile now and have taken them in a different direction.
