A letdown after Arthas

As evidenced by WC III and its expansions, the Scourge and then Arthas have been the largest most prominent threat in the universe of Warcraft. While previous WoW expansions had us going after lesser problems it seems, the Scourge and Arthas were always the biggest and most credible threat lorewise.

While dont get me wrong, Deathwing is one serious BAMF, he doesnt have the entire might of the Scourge behind him to make him feel like any kind of a threat as Arthas and the endless legions of the Undead.

It just seems like going from, "The fight of our lives against the unending masses of undead in all the varied forms!" to fighting a bunch of Twilights Hammer.... IDK is it just me or does anyone feel like after the Scourge they think, "Well my work is done here"

I don't feel that way at all. There is a lot more going on in the world and we are progressing further into the past as we go further into the future to face these ongoing and overhanging threats. Deathwing is nothing to sneeze at and there is plenty to be learned from plumbing the depths (so to speak) of Titan history. I know it's easy to get caught up in the idea that the Lich King is the last and best big baddie in the world, but he is just one part (though an important one) of the greater story.

Arthas tends to be considered the biggest force of destruction in the universe because he is very fresh in peoples' minds based on being fairly recently introduced through Warcraft 3 and staring everybody down since then. Remember though that even to break away from the control of the Burning Legion, it required a great deal of cunning and manipulation - he wasn't able to simply overpower them.

Deathwing on the other hand is a much more legendary figure and one of the greatest powers ever to exist on Azeroth. It took the might of all the other dragon aspects against him to force him into hiding. He also knows almost every being on the world will be against him so he wouldn't reveal himself unless he felt ready to take on anything that will face him.
