You've already provided Blizzard Entertainment personal information upon account creation, Wafred; we've no need to collect it again. The data we're looking for relates specifically to hardware configurations: OS, RAM, graphics cards, video cards, network connection, etc. This sort of non-personal information allows our development, design, and programming teams to better optimize the gaming experience. By knowing what sort of computers our players use, we can plan around our population as best as possible.

Here's a bit more information: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=26782711&sid=1

You agreed to this collection of data whenever you signed up for your World of Warcraft account.

...who would play on a PC that contained government secrets?

*raises hand sheepishly*

It'd be like I was a spy.

'Course, I wouldn't be a very good spy if I did that, so I'd likely be fired. If fortune favored me, though, I'd end up in Miami and get to spend the rest of my days with a boomstick-toting ex-FBI agent and an explosives expert—not an unreasonable trade-off, all in all.
