Blizz and Horde

So, I was watching the new Cataclysm trailer, and noticed some obvious horde bias. I don't understand why the horde seem to continuously be portrayed as good, and the alliance evil. Why don't you switch the names of the horde and alliance? The Horde are misunderstood and mistreated, and the alliance are snobby self-centered and seemingly evil. When the goblins are introduced in the trailer, I couldnt help but think you poor goblins! And, you Evil humans! 'The noble goblins find themselves fighting a new and unknown evil: the humans! And 'The SAVAGE worgen find a new home amongst the evil alliance. That way, when people want to play a character on the good and noble side, they can pick orcs and goblins, and when they want to play onthe evil savage side, the can pick humans and dwarves.

I believe our factions possess greater depth than for which you're giving them credit, Skynyrd. Neither faction—nor any race which bears either banner—is inherently "good" or "evil." This is what makes them so interesting; they are dynamic in their alignments.

For example, just take a look at how different and nuanced each race can be. Some humans are diabolical, like the those of the Twilight Cultists; some pledge themselves wholly to the Light, like Tirion Fordring. Some orcs are peaceful, like the Mag'har; some are full of bloodlust, like the Fel Orcs of Hellfire Peninsula. Some Forsaken are rapt with spite for the living, like the Apothecary; and some wage a constant battle against the destructive forces of the world, like Leonid Barthalomew the Revered. Some Draenei are righteous and noble members of a pious culture; some fell victim to the corruptible wiles of the Burning Legion and are referred to as Eredar.

Does each faction, at first glance, seem to fit some sort of archetype preestablished by the sci-fi/fantasy genre? Sure. But appearances can be deceiving. And if there's any bias here, my friend, I think it just might be in the eye of the beholder. :)

Syndri you got your lore mixed up the Draenei where all Eredar at one point but those who refused the legions gift ran away and changed their name to the Draenei.

More like I got my word order mixed up (not an uncommon occurrence, I'll tell you). Removing the "now" will restore its accuracy. :)

well for one the hord is evil. the turen are the only race in the hord that are not evil invaders from other worlds.......the humans and the rest of the alliance are the good guys..... that is why i dont have any respect for any one that rolls a hord toon.

Did you read my post at all? :(

But your post is a tad misleading. The Eredar aren't part of the Alliance, so that evil can't be attributed to Allies.

Nor are the Twilight Cultists or Leonid part of either faction. :)

My point is that neither "humans" nor "orcs" nor "undead" nor "dwarves" nor "gnomes" nor any other identifiable Horde or Alliance race is inherently evil; there are many factions among the races of Azeroth, as there are many differing beliefs among its denizens. Similarly, neither the Horde nor the Alliance, to which many of the peoples of these races belong, is definitely "good." Each have their flaws, their strengths, their passions, and their biases, and sometimes each must wage against civil unrest.

Azeroth is not a black and white world and the line is often blurred when determining who is a friend and who is a foe. Despite their grievances, though (of which there are many), the Horde and the Alliance share quite a few of the same goals.
