Scam Report

Earlier this evening I received a spam tell in game from a player calling themselves Blizzardtigolel. They were claiming to be promoting a new mount that Blizzard is implementing and suggested that I was entitled to a free trial. Now obviously this is a complete and total scam. No one is their right mind would fall for this. The problem I have is as follows.

The tell stated that in order to receive my trial mount, (that is, in order for them to steal my account info), I needed to log into worldofwarcraft.com - usbattle.net. This is so similar to the actual battle.net login that I am wondering if these people have managed to successfully implant an actual trojan into the battle.net login itself. In order to access my account information through this site, I have to enter my battle.net name and password. I am now completely paranoid to do so. I am convinced that if I access any of my account information, even here on the official site, that I will have my account hacked.

I am looking for a blue response on this. Is it safe to go to the "Account Management" portion of this site? Or, should I avoid it at all costs until this is investigated. Maybe I am just being an alarmist, but the similarity in the site info leads me to believe that someone has, once again, planted a keylogger or trojan into the battle.net system. I am borderline scared to put my name and password into any part of this site. I don't mind using it to get into the game, because the web address I was given had seemingly nothing to do with the actual game login system, it seemed to specifically hint that the problem is in the battle.net login.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to be asking this on, but general and technical just didn't seem to be the right idea. I would love any sort of blue response on this, even if just to tell me that you have seen this post and are investigating the problem. I opened a ticket in game and said this same thing, but it occurred to me that contacting a GM on a friday night was not the proper avenue to get this problem addressed.

Blizz, please look into this, and a response would be nice, because if someone has managed to compromise the battle.net login server the backlash could be decidedly destructive.

Thank you in advance.

Any whispers you receive regarding new mounts which require you to log into non-blizzard websites are blatantly fake, folks. I strongly encourage you to report the player for spamming and to refrain from visiting the website.

Thanks!
