Onyxia Cool but Lore? - Blue Tracker

First of all I really like the Idea of bringing Onyxia back for raiding at level 80. I loved raiding her in vanilla and I am sure I will enjoy raiding er again. My Only Question is how is she back? It was my understanding Varian one shotted her in that comic series although I have not read it myself. Not only that but her head was hung high in Stormwind in the comics as well correct?

It just seems odd to me that a character killed in the comics, a character that we the players killed way before Varian escaped just reappears after she is retconned to give Varian the kill.

Note that I love the idea of raiding her again, i am just curious about the lore around this. I guess I am something of a lore nerd but it would be great if someone could point me to a source saying if this is at all lore based or just fan service and game mechanics.

Oh also (insert random garbled Alliance/Horde/Varian/Garrosh hate message) Since I believe it is required for these forums =-).

There is no change in the lore, the story works just the same as it does with Onyxia in the game right now. This a celebration of the 5 year anniversary of World of Warcraft and we are doing something a little more than just adding a pet this year.

This hasn't been finalized yet. My guess is it will be a 7-day since the gear will be more modern and that way it will fit in with all the other raids people are doing better.
