Can't go through dark portal: upgrade time?

So I was leveling my recruit a friend account and I didn't have my account upgraded to TBC yet so when I tried to go through the Dark Portal it wouldn't let me. I upgraded the account to TBC and I still can't go through. It has only been like 5 minutes so is there a certain amount of time I need to wait for the game to recognize my account has been upgraded? Or am I doing something wrong? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The Dark Portal still possesses a level requirement; you need to be at least 58 to cross through it. You're welcome to access the Outland through other means, though: portal, summon, etc. :)

Now, with that said, are you able to create expansion races? This is a good test to see if your upgrade was successful. If not, make sure that you've logged out of the client completely and back in since upgrading.

Edit: Whups. Looks like everything is taken care of. Leaving this information up and active for posterity, though.

I'm testing it right now, folks. If something needs to be updated (like a webpage) or forwarded on for further review, I'll make sure it gets done. No need to fight. :)

As an update (and apologies for the delay): Level restrictions for the Dark Portal have been removed. Characters of any level, provided that they are upgraded to The Burning Crusade, may now cross through this ominous gateway.

Apologies for any confusion! I've ensured this information has been forwarded on so our resources can be updated appropriately. :)

While it's possible there may be some quests which are considered "level neutral," the content is designed for characters between the levels 58 and 70. A level 1 wouldn't likely find much to do besides returning to its corpse or fleeing in fear of proximity aggro, and a level 50 or 55 would probably be just as lonely. :)
