Account already merged?

Well I just tried to log-in to WoW this morning to find out I have to log-in with my Battle.net account name and password. Well I didn't have one (or so I thought), so I went through the process of setting one up and everything. I finally tried merging my account and it says, "This account has already been merged with another Battle.net account" or something similar.

Maybe I missed the notification somewhere that WoW was switching over to this Battle.net log-in system (I don't read forums that often, and I don't read the WoW message of the day in-game), but is my account put on some master Blizzard account for people who don't have one of these? Kinda bummed. :(

Thanks in advance for the reply.

You are only required to log in using a Battle.net account if you have registered for a Battle.net account, Gangoruk. Accordingly, it sounds as if a malicious party gained access to your account and merged it before you attempted to log in this morning. I strongly encourage you to review the following threads for more information on how to secure your computer and report your account as compromised:

My Account Was Merged Into a Battle.net Account!

On occasion, malicious parties will merge a World of Warcraft account onto a Battle.net account during an account compromise. As such, it is necessary to contact our Billing and Account Services Department to retrieve access to the World of Warcraft account by disassociating it with the malicious Battle.net account. Our Billing Representatives can be reached via phone using one of the following numbers:
