Dps how do you know if you enough, too much(meaning your hurting your other stats) or just the right amount?

I'm using it bc at the time when I made it I didn't have much stam and I'm only using 1 but I haven't gotten to making a different one bc I'm selling the dragon's eye to help towards an epic mount.

And Heffaid how is this an elitist jerk forum

I think he was referring you to a place where players frequently offer such advice. You can also turn to your class forum for help. If you ask around or do a little investigating yourself, you'll find there's a lot of information out there on good talent specializations as well as what stats to focus on over others.

Since I'm in the process of leveling a death knight right now, I've been doing this a lot myself. I recently found some great posts on the death knight class forum about stat priorities. I've been waiting for 3.2 to hit so I can focus on dual wielding my way up to 80, so it's been great to read a lot of the discussions taking place on how best to build a dual wielding death knight when patch 3.2 comes to pass.

Let me add one thing: there are many different ways to use your talent points, your professions, your gem slots. Don't be afraid to try something crazy, something different, and something original. The odds that someone else haven't though of it should never deter you from the joy of exploration.

In exploring, you can find out new and innovative ways to use abilities, talents, and gear to improve your dps beyond what the current theoretical maximum is. You would be shocked how many times conventional wisdom has fallen over the past few years by careful experimenting and documenting.

I just want to jump in again and say that I second this. My first post might have come off a little bit too strong as a "mirror what other players are doing" post.

Ultimately it's fun to find one's own way through the game. I know I made a lot of stupid mistakes and wasted some time based on my lack of knowledge of certain mechanics way back in the day, but that ended up being part of the fun of learning the game and finding my place on my realm and in my guild.

At the same time though -- particularly now that I've gone through the game on a couple of characters -- if I'm unfamiliar with specific class mechanics, talents, stat preferences, or ideal skill rotations, I'm going to research it and seek out the advice of players who have had more time to experiment with such things. I'm not a min/maxer per se, but I want just a little bit of guidance on the most ideal set-up so I'm not totally clueless when leveling is over and I jump into a group/raid environment for my first time as a death knight.

Let me put it this way.

I don't hate the idea Death Knight class, I hate the morons who play them, I hate the fact that they are so far superior to my class (though to be fair that's less in 3.2, but I will QQ till the changes hit live!), I hate the fact that there are always 3 Death Knights for every 1 of any other class, and mostly....

I
Hate
Blood
Elf
Death
Knights.

Well my main is a warlock and always has been. I'm generally not as drawn to melee classes as I am to casters, but the death knight really appealed to me. After I spent my time leveling and gearing up my warlock I started focusing on a death knight. I'm absolutely loving the leveling experience on the death knight so far (I'm at level 77 and waiting for patch 3.2 to buy flying skills at a reduced cost).

Oh, and I'm all gnome baby. Anyone who knows me knows this.

Being that you probably eat lunch with the people who designed the class, wouldn't it make more sense for you to just ask them for class advice?

Nah, that's not really how it works here.

I don't really feel like that's fair to players or developers. If I'm going to ask them about class mechanics, it's going to be for the community. I don't want to waste their time answering my questions when I could be asking them yours.

When it comes to my personal play experience, I want to be a player like everyone else. I don't want to go to the guy with all of the numbers behind a class built into his frontal lobe to ask him how I should play the game. There's no fun in that. That's why, like other players, I'll look to my fellow community members for class advice and leave the rest to trial and error. :)

Q u o t e:
Have you ever seen some patch notes? The devs don't know jack about the classes they design!

/ducks

Whether in jest or not please don't go there.

You have slightly redeemed yourself for rolling a Gnome.

But if your Death Knight has any variation of death, Arthas, or anything morbid or dead sounding then I swear...

Nope. My names are usually variations of percussion instruments of which I'm very fond.

At least when I make a silly posting mistake, it doesn't end up on a bunch of blue trackers. :p

It's because I hit back in the browser until I got back to that post, then added in my edit. I forgot that would actually just post it as a new post.

My bad!

A message for all the people flaming Zayhym in this thread.

That certainly sounds familiar... almost as if it were written by someone I shared drinks with on Saturday night. I'm not sure it's relevant to this thread though. :p

So Zarhym,

How long did ya say it would be before ya are gona finish leveling your DK? Would ya say mid august or september is more realistic for starting to level him again?

lol. I see what you're playing at. I imagine I'll finish leveling with a few weeks of the patch going live. I'll have a lot to do on my main too.

Was that a satisfactory answer? :p
