Not allowed to join guild?!

My boyfriend just started playing wow and his account has been upgraded to a standard account.
I tried to invite him to my guild on this toon, and he said it told him he wasn't allowed to join. Now when I try to invite him again it just tells me he's already been invited to a guild.
Is there something I'm missing here?
His name is Carstens, just in case that needs to be known.
Please help me.

It indeed appears that your boyfriend's account was recently upgraded using the Online Upgrade feature, Abberinkula. As a few players have mentioned, the online upgrade process can take between 24 and 72 hours to complete. During this processing period a few trial restrictions will continue to be in place including the inability to join a guild.

Fortunately, the leveling restriction should already be lifted so he may continue his characters beyond level 20, and the remaining trial restrictions will be removed once his upgrade request has successfully completed processing.
