07/23 - Stuck at Authenticating.

Our database administrators are currently looking into this issue and working to get authentication running as soon as possible.

Because that would be a really stupid way to incentivize players to merge to a Battle.net account and that's not what we're doing. Some players who have merged their accounts are experiencing this issue as well. It just so happens that merged and un-merged accounts authenticate in slightly different ways. This means, depending on the type of technical issue, that merged accounts could be affected differently than un-merged accounts.

I guess the answer to your question is yes. But you phrased the question in such a way that it seems you think there is an authentication switch that is either on or off, and we keep forgetting to leave it in the "on" position. There are almost immeasurable variables to keep the realms up and running and the authentication and login servers accepting players. What could have caused an issue last week or last year might have absolutely nothing to do with an issue cropping up this week.

Authentication is currently stable and players are logging in normally. We will continue to closely monitor the authentication process in the event that this issue resurfaces. For those that displayed patience and understanding during this process, we thank you.

Being unable to log into the game when you have time to play is certainly frustrating, and for that I do apologize.
