Got it.

I'm so sorry guys =(. I know that this has been a pretty frustrating situation.

I just informed the appropriate parties and we're re-opening the investigation on this. If there are any updates, I'll provide them as soon as I can.

I've received reports that having a battle.net merged account may help circumvent this issue. I have not confirmed that, and we are working to resolve these authentication issues regardless.

If you wish, you can try visiting http://us.battle.net/ to merge your account, but while that may help resolve this temporary issue, you are by no means required to do so as yet.

Blizzard is making thi a scheme to convert

Quoting a response I provided in another thread:

It obviously is necessary that I clarify that isn't the reason why I offered that as an option, nor is that the intention here.

At some point in the future, battle.net accounts will indeed be mandatory. That time has not yet come, nor do we need to find circular means to encourage battle.net mergers. This may simply help in this situation, so I mentioned it.

Pretty much saying if you want to play go merge with a bnet account. If you do not wish to we are still looking into the issue.

Please read post 141, as it contains my response to this assertion.

Q u o t e:
We do not want to its not safe anyways people have been having issues with battlenet and getting hacked.

Battle.net accounts are not leading to further account compromises. Spreading misinformation on this forum can and will be considered trolling. Please refrain from doing so again.

I can confirm, although im pretty mad i chose to do it... >=/

I'm glad that you're in-game, but I'm sorry to hear that you're upset =(. I was just trying to offer a potentially useful work around while we resolve the issue.

Q u o t e:

TO be frank, I don't plan on merging til I have to. I have my personal concerns, let alone having to redo everything I need to know/use to it. I dislike the idea, personally, having my login tied to an e-mail to begin with, and this is outside any and all other rumored concerns. Mostly, I don't want or need the hassle of a switchover if it's not necessary.

You certainly don't have to, nor are you currently expected to as yet.

It was just a potential workaround for those who wished to opt for it.

Q u o t e:
I hope you guys figure this out soon, as I could use some stress relief right about now, and less complaints about the issues from some people I know. Having personally dealt with computer issues I know they can be frustrating to pinpoint 100% but... yeah. This is getting to be a bit long. Is there a back-up system that can be put in? Or perhaps some consideration or setting one up?

That makes two of us. As far as the specifics of the Authentication system, that's not information I have available, so I'm unable to comment on the feasability of a 'back up' system per se.

There are no new updates to impart as yet either, though I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

Q u o t e:
is battlenet an solid fix for the auth problem?
I mean a full time fix, if so ill get it taken care of for my family. but if others who have merged already are still facing Auth problems then hell no.

No, it is not a guaranteed fix. It is only a reported resolution and potentially effective workaround.

Please please Malk answer my posts.....

Sorry bout that Maz! It is just slightly busy over here =/.

As far as the information I have available indicates, you should be able to continue to log into the PTR using your current World of Warcraft account information, even if you opt to merge.

No new information is available regarding the Authentication system guys. Our staff are still hard at work to resolve the current issues, but as before, no ETA is available.

I know some of you are sick of hearing 'I'm sorry', but still.. Please accept my personal apologies guys. I am intimately aware of how frustrating this can be, and I just hope we're able to lock this down soon. As before, no ETA is available as yet though.

If you're able to get on, then that's awesome.

We're still investigating this issue though, and authentication may become unavailable again.

Okay guys, just got another update.

Authentication is likely to be down for at least the next 30 minutes or so while we employ some of the steps toward a resolution for this issue. Intermittent Authentication downtime will continue until approximately 6 PM PDT by which time we hope to have a resolution fully implemented.

If this is not the case, we will update you all further then.
