Thanks for the update, also (probably not) any ETA (ok I know I am asking the imposable but I thought I woudl ask anyways.)

It's a bit too early for an ETA, Drun. If our Technicians determine the issue and provide us with one, we'll do our best to make sure you guys are aware of it!

yea but guess what...theres too many <removed>fanboys that wouldnt help fix that problem...if people would actually petition and protest...and just not play for a month or 2 straight...until they fixed their own damn problems....it would get taken care of...but blizz knows that there are too many 7 yr olds that use their mommys credit card every month and are complete <removed>

Actually, 'petitioning and protesting' would not speed these resolutions in the least. Also, your use of the r-word is probably inadvisable, for many different reasons. Thank you.

It's not as though we allow these things to occur out of disregard or negligence. Our staff are world class, we do everything we possibly can to ensure the best and smoothest experience possible. It is absolutely in our best interest to resolve these issues as completely and permanently as possible for the sake of our players. One would hope that this is obvious.

Even with the best possible hardware, issues do occur. We're no more pleased with this than you are, and our people are working feverishly to resolve this and get you guys back into the game.

We accept downtime in MMO's because we think they're somehow more complicated than, say, allowing instant credit-card verification for the entire US and much of the rest of the world (like Visa and Mastercard to). But I'm not sure why we think that...

Because it is absolutely a fact. An MMO is vastly more complex and load intensive than the systems you mentioned. In fact, they are amongst the most demanding online applications.

Yeah, it's for sure not fixed. Unable to connect, Login server is down, unable to connect, login server is down.

This error message can sometimes be delivered if there are client side connectivity/ISP issues. You may want to try jumping over to our Technical support forum for assistance, to help ensure that this is not the case.

You said to post if I'm having issues so I'm posting. Even with the fixes your technicians put in place I'm still experiencing authentication timeouts.

Actually that post was updated, Renews, the request to post again if you are having issues was made a couple of hours ago. I just removed that sentence to avoid confusion.

Could you be a bit more specific, Will? Are you getting stuck on authentication are you getting a different message?

Basically, people are able to log in periodically while the system is being worked on but authentication interruptions will likely continue while the issue is being addressed.

Funny how an account that had not been merged with bnet suddenly was able to connect once it had been merged. Meanwhile another unmerged account was stuck at "authenticating".

We get it, the basic WoW authentication server is low on your fix priorities in an effort to push your battle.net accounts. Just tell us we need to merge instead of this passive-agressive inaction.

Yes, Kapowder, that is funny. What is ridiculous though is your suggesting that this issue has not been receiving high priority because it only seemed to affect non-merged Battle.net accounts.
Q u o t e:

WOW...an Error 131 this time and I have to wait WAIT AGAIN for this authentication problem...I really really hope that New Stars wars MMO wipes the floor with this

I understand your frustration but the issues are completely unrelated. You have corrupted files, troubleshooting steps can be found in the link below, Alenton.

The part that boggles my mind is that they said hours ago they found the issue and corrected it.

I believe I said they may have found the cause of the issue.

Folks, the Breaking News indicates that the authentication system is being worked on and there will be intermittent outages while that happens. As soon as we have more information regarding the issue we will let you know.

I'm not getting snippy, Shaetharel. I was clarifying information.

Q u o t e:

I believe you said no more than 15 minutes. And I believe that if you're going to feed us a line of that caliber, you should be able to back that up. You work in the customer service forum! You provide customer service! You should know better than to give us sarcasm when trying to calm a group of livid customers.

The Breaking News actually says: Authentication interruptions should last no more than 15 minutes at a time.

Not 15 minutes total, and it doesn't even say that the authentication interruptions will last not more than 15 minutes. It states that they should last no more than 15 minutes. Again, I did not use sarcasm, if you take issue with how I am doing my job you are welcome to write to wowgmfeedback-us@blizzard.com.
Q u o t e:

Why don't you just stick to your scripts.

I don't have a script, I'm trying to provide what updates I can.

Folks, as I said before I understand the need to vent but posts that violate the Code of Conduct will be moderated accordingly and posting privileges will be removed. Please keep that in mind.

So, you're saying every time you try to log in it should stay on authenticating for 15 mins then fail? Then 15 mins again every time?

No, I'm saying that it should still be possible to log into the game. The authentication system seems to be allowing people through, though not consistently.

Amazing that Blue can find the time to edit posts but can't address how this is a "minor" problem. 12 hours, 4 successful logins for a grand total of maybe 45 minutes of gametime is minor.

I can find time to edit posts, Ixtapan, because that is part of my job. I didn't write the Breaking News and I am not a technician. I moderate this forum.

Technically this forum is for in-game issues. We provide what updates we can because we understand that there simply is no other source of information available currently.

The last update I have was given when the Breaking News was posted. From what I've been able to determine the issue may not be with the hardware, it seems that this may be a software issue. That is what they are working to resolve.

Well it says that Non-US residents can't merge their accounts so the rest of the world is screwed if they want to play if that's the solution.

Where does it say that, Holistic? You should be able to create a Battle.net account if you wish to. You want to make certain that you are accessing the US version of the Battle.net page but you should still be able to merge your North American World of Warcraft account.

https://us.battle.net/login/

Please note that we are not requiring anyone to create a Battle.net account or merge their World of Warcraft account into it. The authentication issue is being worked on and we hope to have it resolved as quickly as possible.

I understand that this issue has persisted for several hours now, if I had an ETA on when it would be resolved I would certainly relay it. Thank you all for your continued patience.

Congrats Vrak, I get that part of your job is to edit posts for offensive posts. What I don't get is how you don't hit intercom: breaking news department, and say "Billyjoejimbob, it's way past minor and is insulting to our customers and I am taking heat. ...and change the breaking news to: we are experiencing a major login problem that we don't have a handle on and have no idea when it will be fixed. Get some sleep and we hope to have full functionality when you revisit us tomorrow."

I had already passed along the message that the Breaking News statement is causing a bit of confusion as well as upsetting a fair number of people due to the wording. :)
