Why it takes 40 minutes to zone into Gnomer

"The fact of the matter is the instances are not broken, like most things resources are not infinite. There is a limited capacity and therefore when enough instances have been created additional instances will not be able to be launched until those resources become available again."

Apparently taking 40 minutes to zone into a 5 man is working as intended.

nice!

before 3.1 we never had this issue... wonder what happened to all the resources.

To further clarify this issue for you, let me explain. Each instance is hosted on a specific piece of hardware for each realm. Unfortunately, with the addition of each new content instance, these pieces of hardware become very taxed. This creates a great number of issues for everyone in a particular realm's instances, including large amounts of latency. In order to make certain that the content is playable by the people currently in instances, we put a certain cap. This cap prevents further instances from being created while there is a certain amount of stress. However, this method is simply a temporary measure until we are able to implement a more permanent solution.

But... it seems you've put weight on the new instances, how can older instances ever be gotten into by players? I've opened 2 in game tickets and they've been responded to in completely different manners than the resolution required.

Please be up front with us if you are capping old world instances.

That's actually not correct. We haven't intentionally weighted any instance. What happens is simply a result of the amount of detail in the newer content, which in turn, causes it to take up more space. There is also a critical mass of players in the newer content. Those two factors, combined, add up to more instances in new content being created more often than anywhere else. As an example, you have 4 groups of players attempting to create a Gundrak instance and on the other end of the spectrum there is a single group attempting to create a Gnomeregan instance. The result is simply a matter of numbers. More players trying more often to create an instance will manage to get in first.

And...that will be when?

We have been implementing the solution to this issue in bite-sized chunks during maintenance. I don't have an eta as to when we will have the issue completely resolved, but we get closer every maintenance period.
