Wow battlechest cd key

So my cousin just bought the wow battlechest with the original wow to find that the original wow's cd key was already used. So, he went back and bought another copy of the original wow, and it worked. after, he tried the BC and the timecard to find that they too were already used. This is getting ridiculous as we've already spent over 100 dollars. what now?
