Kirin'Tor rings in 3.2?

I was thinking of buying one of the ~7k Kirin'tor "hearth-rings", but I see no mention of their ilvl being raised from 213 in the upcoming patch.

Anyone know if these rings will be falling behind other ring ilvls next patch? Does the dev team plan to continue to raise their stats at all?

There are Etched rings on the PTR. Note that if you want a Kirin Tor ring, you'd buy the base one first, then upgrade it to an Inscribed version for an additional gold fee (1000g at exalted Kirin Tor reputation), then you can swap your Inscribed ring for an Etched one under the same terms in 3.2.

Yeah, and the Etched rings are item level 226, just need the gold to pay for the upgrades.

I've thought about buying one of these before, but always figured the cost was too high for an item that would eventually be outdated. With each upgrade, the overall cost of ownership over time is more realistic, except for paradox that I haven't used it the whole time because the cost seemed to be too high.

Is there an overall thinking on these as to how long they will be viable? I can't see just paying to keep a near-BiS until the end of WoW, but even just knowing this would be a viable piece throughout the life of the 3.x expansion would make it a more attractive gold sink.

It's true that we didn't really explain our longterm plans for the rings, but there are a number of players who found it beneficial to buy them pretty early on. Overall I haven't used the rings for their stats much at all as I have received better items from dungeons, but it's permanently in my bags as I use the hearthstone function on a constant basis.
