How do I freeze my account?

I don't want to cancel my account for good and loose everything, just want to freeze it for a few months.

There's essentially no difference. Canceling your account will render it inactive until you renew your subscription. You will not lose any character data by canceling though.

Edit: Just keeping our MVPs on their toes...
