Taking off an authenticator

how do i go about taking off an authenticator from my account? my gf/gf's little boy lost it the other day and i'm Very doubtful that we're going to find it. is there a way that i can go about taking it off of my account? an additional note: i don't have my original discs, they've gotten lost in from moving about 4 times since i started the game. ty in advance
