Flying at 60? Why not Heirloom?

As with cold weather flying. Making a flight book for Level 60 an heirloom item would allow experienced players to ease the level grind without deteriorating or abbreviating the experience for new players.

Opinions?

Just to clarify some things. The cold weather flying heirloom planned for patch 3.2 allows players who have gone through the challenges of Northrend to have an easier time with their following character(s).

We are also making the following change that is on the PTR patch notes already:
  • Expert Riding (Skill 225): Can now be learned at level 60 for 600 gold from trainers in Honor Hold or Thrallmar. Faction discounts now apply (Honor Hold for Alliance; Thrallmar for Horde). Flight speed at this skill level has been increased to 150% of run speed, up from 60%.

So now all players regardless of what they have done will be able to fly from the beginning in Outland (assuming they have the gold) and make that part of the leveling process go smoother as well.

Having covered those two points, is there anything I'm missing and you are still wanting to be changed/added?

Will you be adding a monument to those of us that leveled through Burning Crusade with no flight powers at all?

The "monument" is the shattered sun statue and title you can buy there.

Hmm.. the note says 150% OF run speed. Most mounts show their percentage as a boost OVER run speed. For instance, the normal ground mount is a 60% boost (you go 60% faster than run speed). If it was 60% OF run speed, you would be going 40% slower while mounted than you would if you just ran.

Blizz, can you please confirm? By 150%, do you really mean OF run speed (ie. the mount will be 50% faster than running speed), or do you mean an additional150% (meaning the actual multiplier is 2.5x, where x is run speed)?

It's the same way it currently works with all mounts.
