I read something the earlier day about the next patch having an option to allow your character to stop gaining exp once they reached 60 and/or 70. With it being as simple as clicking on or off in the game settings. Allowing guilds to raid MC or something the way it was back in the day. Granted, it isn't exactly like it, but it's closer than going in there with a group in the high 70's. Any truth to this or is it all lies. Figured I'd ask because I didn't see it in the patch notes.

This is tied to being able to turn off experience gains in Battlegrounds. Due to this new functionality, it will affect all experience gain including for PvE so many people are taking this into account and are discussing using this as a tool for guilds or groups that only want to cover certain content.

The specific patch note reads as follows:

Players who do not wish to gain experience through PvP can visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar - both located near the Battlemasters in either city - and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 gold.

if we turn off exp do we get exp -> gold conversion? My 79s are going broke here!

No, you don't. But you'll still be able to earn the rewards and rep that go with quest turn-ins.

hey neth im just curious

is blizzard aware of people wanting to use this new "Stop XP gain" feature as a form of making lvl 60 raiding guild for pre-BC content?

im sure u guys are , but was it something you knew was gonna happen?

are you glad people want to do that?

do you consider it a nice bonus to the feature? maybe the cure for all those "WTB 60 only server" fans?

It was understood that people might want to use it this way. At this point, I'm unaware of any issues that would require us to change this functionality. The rest I couldn't really answer since the functionality was not designed particularly for this use, but is seen as a benefit by some in the community. We're simply focusing on creating ways to continue to afford players ways of having fun in the game and adding Battleground experience is something we've wanted to do. Allowing the experience to be turned off in battlegrounds was another thing we felt was desired by the community.
