DK Q&A

Am I the only person that fealt that the questions asked were nowhere near the questions that we have been asking on forums? After reading that I have not found out anything new for myself that patch notes 3.2 have not told me.

3.2 gutting DK's (what is it 3rd patch in the row now?) - check
total lack of communication so far - check

The part that got under my skin personaly, was we are a "cooldown" class. So far every single 1 of our cooldowns has been nurfed time and again. Armor nurfed and to be nurfed again and a dobule HP nurf.

Ok, blood tanks have a lot of health, and their vampiric blood etc, but guess what? Unholy and Frost dont ussualy get veteran of the third war so nurf in frost presence essentialy means you now HAVE to go blood to have any kind of HP and be a possible candidate for tanking anything.

What is the point of having 3 specs if only 1 is viable?
And why the blight nurf? Jus tbecause we do too much aoe damage, seriously?

How many bosses in Ulduar are aoe zergs?

/sigh so frustated with this Q&A, did not answer any questions or shed any light on t heir decisions or design choices.

Q u o t e:
Blizzard has stated in multiple places that the Q&As are designed to be very philosophical and cover a variety of questions that are repeatedly asked by the community. If you want me to locate the posts stating this, I will.

I will confirm it.

Q u o t e:
They had Q&A threads set up in multiple languages in all world of warcraft forums, not just the American or English European threads.

They also drew questions from a wide variety of sources including questions that the CMs had seen over and over on the forums.

There are unfortunately quite a few threads complaining that the "wrong" questions were answered. We addressed questions that the community asked. I am sorry we did not address the question *you* might have specifically asked.

These forums are not here for the sole purpose of getting your questions answered. That in part is why we kicked off the Q&A series. If you have issues, concerns or ideas about your class, post them and I promise we will read them. If you have said everything there is to say, then stop posting. Launching multiple threads, particularly angry ones, on the same topic is not a good strategy for getting questions answered.

Q u o t e:
they didnt listen on the 3.1 ptr when we told them how to reduce the dk's power by changing our IBF CD to 2 min. they didnt listen on teh 3.1.2 ptr when we told them the same thing. why should we have faith they will listen now? Blind faith when evidence points to the opposite outcome is stupidity.

Every player who has ever made a post on these forums could say the same thing. "You didn't listen to us when we said warlocks should be able to one-shot rogues." We listen to the community and evaluate what you have to say. Very often we are not going to implement your requests, but we will consider them, or at the very least, what problems you are trying to solve with your proposed suggestions.

Q u o t e:
The sad thing is, they already acknowledged that they do make chagnes based on popularity, and the perception of the player base. Considering 99.99999% of the player bace considers DK OP in every aspect, we will continue to be nerfed until we are the worst class in the game, and everyone knows it. At that point we will be adjusted to middle of hte road i am sure.

WoW would be a pretty interesting game if we in fact made changes based solely on the perceptions of the player base. Players call for DK nerfs for several reasons, not the least of which include that they don't understand the DK mechanics or don't want to have to learn how to counter another class. However, in some cases they are complaining because the DKs are overpowered. You can't say "players are often right (meaning me)" as in the first quote and then "players are often wrong (meaning the other guy)" in the second.

When a lot of players are making a stink, we look into why they might have that perception. Sometimes the perceptions are right and sometimes the perceptions are wrong. We don't balance around popularity. We assumed DKs were always going to be popular because they were new, heavily tied into the story of the expansion, and had a great starting experience. Our operating procedure is not to nerf them until they are 10% of all characters. When a class or spec if very popular or not very popular, we try to understand why. There is a relationship between power and popularity, but it isn't a perfect correlation.

Q u o t e:
I like how our blue response is not a direct response to any of our PTR concerns except to dispel the notion that they balance classes around popular perception.

The thread topic and much of the discussion was on the nature of the Q&A.

I would not approach these forums with the attitude that you are somehow owed a blue response on anything. Because the fact of the matter is that nearly all questions in these forums are going to go unanswered by blue posters. This isn't a Q&A forum.

If you wish different questions had been picked, then the next time there is a call for questions like this, I would say something like "Many of these questions are too general for my taste. I am more interested in X." Some of the burden is on the community here too. If you keep asking questions just for the sake of asking questions, then there is a bigger chance that the questions you aren't interested in will get chosen. The CMs chose questions that they saw repeated over and over. Clearly they were important to somebody.
