Get Hacked and get Banned

They aren't punishing you. It was the account that was 'punished', and it was because of what happened when it was compromised. If you tell account admin of the compromise, then the black mark will be (or should be) removed from the account.

Ultimately, account security is the end user's responsibility. Blizzard has a very secure system, but it can't fight against people that willingly give away their account details by falling for phishing schemes.

Q u o t e:
I just got banned for 72 hours cause I got ingame mail from one of my guildies for a video that they were posting that they didnt. Then I go to the site and its a key logger and I get banned cause I got hacked. GoGo Blizz punish the one that gets hacked not the one hacking. I think that I have decided to quit playing in general if blizz wants to punish people for getting hacked for playing there game that I pay 15 dollars a month to play that they pretty much cant keep the lowlifes out that hack. Why play? I have invested over 2 years of my life in this game to get hacked then banned for it. Come on blizz you have millons to stop people from hacking but you ban the people that play it wtf. I thought that you were better than that I guess not. This is my one and only post. Hey cancel my account see if I care i will find another game to play but not yours or anything you are involved in if you cant punish the right person. Hey arrest the banker cause his client wrote a bad check come on blizz. I thought that you were better than that

This isn't at all uncommon, Roaming.

That is because accounts are stolen to do nefarious things with. Should we just let them continue?

We have well-oiled processes in place when this happens. Let me direct you to the following two stickies.

Those should have just about any information a compromised player needs. This isn't about punishing you, it's about protecting both the game - and yourself. We are one of the only MMOs I know that will help a player recover after this has happened. It may take a little while, and it's important to do the steps in order, but a promptly reported compromise typically has excellent results.

What you don't want to do is throw in the towel right now - and come back in 6 months to pursue this. That may be too late for us to assist.

I also need to remind you that although we do our best to educate players on how to protect themselves, ultimately - system and account security is up to you. We cannot keep malware off your system.

I do wish you the very best.
