Character selection screen freezes!!!

Been having this problem since the last patch. WoW loads fine, plays fine, but when i go to log out of one character and into another thats when the game freezes. The wow logo in the top left corner, the character list on the right, and the box in the middle saying "retrieving character list" all show up fine. But the rest of the screen is black and the game freezes.

it will finally load after about two minutes and bring up the full character selection screen. To avoid this i have to change to a windowed screen and then change characters and then maximize screen again.
When this first started it happened ever other day or so, but now it happens any time i change characters. It doesn't happen when i first start wow, and get to the first character selection screen its fine but anytime after that if i change characters thats when the screen freezes.

A few times it has frozen like this after the character selection screen is gone and i've logged into a character all my action bars, mini map, character icon all load but the rest is black and i have to minimize/maximize again to get it to load right. When i don't change to a windowed screen and the game freezes it take about 30 seconds to force it into windowed mode using the keyboard shortcut.

I have been seeing some other odd and end graphic errors, the mini map often just shows that I'm outdoors instead of inside, if i log into a character thats in stormwind there face doesn't show up in the character icon on the top left of the screen.

This never happened before the last patch. I tend to change characters a lot and it seems that this problem is getting worse as time goes on. Once its loads into the game it runs perfect.

Im running a 24" iMac
2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB ram
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT
Mac OS X 10.4.11

Hi, Linux,

Did you update your addons after the last patch? Sounds to me like they might be having trouble reloading between characters.

Reset the permissions on your WoW folder:
1. Select the World of Warcraft folder
2. Press Command + I
3. In the World of Warcraft Info box, go to the Sharing & Permissions section
4. Click on the lock and unlock it, entering your admin password when prompted.
5. make sure you have Read & Write permissions
6. Click on the Burst icon (cog wheel) and select Apply to enclosed items

** If using Mac OS 10.4.11, just click on the Apply to Enclosed items button. (no cog wheel)

Reset the temp files:
1. Navigate to /Applications/World of Warcraft/
2. Delete the Cache folder.
3. Move Interface and WTF to the Desktop.
4. Launch WoW.

Sounds like the video card might be having some trouble rendering the world. I would recommend running the Apple Hardware Test. You will need to have the original disc your computer was shipped with in the drive. Hold down "D" while you're booting. This is particular to Intel Macs. If you have a PPC Mac (G4 or G5), you'll hold down "Option" while booting to get into the Startup Manager where you can choose the Apple Hardware Test from the choices.

I'd recommend an extended test of all hardware, looping if that's possible. That will let us know for sure if there are any hardware problems. If it reports any hardware issues, you'll want to contact a local Apple Service Provider to address those.
