What's the point of General Discussion Forum?

Dear Moderators,

What's the point of having a general discussion forum if you just delete every topic that doesn't support decisions you guys make? Doesn't it sort of defeat the purpose of having an open forum?

The threads being removed are the ones regarding the recent announcement of the upcoming Faction Change Service.
