Malkorix, you should try and find out what the true issues are for us =P i suspect hardware failure, taking bets anyone else?

If I told you, I'd have to make you the quest target for an honor daily =(.

I actually commented on this in the last Retaliation thread: we're just not authorized to provide that kind of information publicly. Sorry guys =(.

I will keep you updated in any fashion I possibly can though.

Q u o t e:
Hello again on Tuesday Mr Kitty. I do appreciate all the CS responses regarding servers being down. Yet I feel hatred toward the actually physical pieces of hardware, and I would kick them if possible, though it would hurt my foot and cause more downtime.

Hallo miss, Izri! I understand your antipathy toward the hardware, and, to an extent, I share it. Office Space copier, anyone?

Anyway, I just want you guys to be able to play without these issues happening, and I'm hopeful that we can get this locked down soon. We'll see what's happening in an hour or so.

on going discussion regarding compensation for the amount of downtime we have experienced

please contribute

Actually Pkae, I'd encourage you guys to create a request for compensation in a thread of that title; requesting free transfers isn't going to fly, in all likelihood.

Q u o t e:

you plan on responding the "free transfers" or compesation for this crap anytime soon? or are you going to overlook it and divert it to somewhere else like expected

I've replied to those requests several times, in several different threads; I'm sorry you missed it.

If you'd like to request compensation, then you can do so via the Suggestions forum (Pkae's thread wouldn't be a bad place to go, for example).
Free transfers, on the other hand, are unlikely to be offered. As this is almost certainly not a population density issue, allowing such transfers would damage the realms in question in the long term. As a result, this is not something we are likely to offer. Our technicians will continue to work to resolve the issues with this battlegroup for the long term though.

Q u o t e:
soooo basically you're telling us were SoL becuase you dont feel like unbalancing other servers becuase the new servers you made for population fail?

No, I'm telling you that free transfers were only ever offered to help stabilize the population of the realms in question.
Q u o t e:

I doubt it's that simple. My understanding of the blue posts so far is that while they were preparing to launch the hotfix they discovered a major issue with our servers and just took them offline. Believing the hotfix is just a cover is just silly.

Correct, on both counts.

I love when people say things like that.
Because it's just so much fun to start all over... with nothing... on another server.

No thanks... I'm not that desparate.
(I'll stick to twiddling my thumbs.)
=P

It is technically correct, though. The subscription fee does not apply to the use of a particular realm, but the service as a whole.

Playing an alt on a different realm can be fun. Not that you should ever feel as though you have to; but it certainly isn't related to any kind of desperation.

Q u o t e:
Said technically for a reason. Its not for the best, but it is the rule/law

Honestly, even if it is just a CS boost attempt, im glad there is a blizz poster here, make it so we are not being ingnored.

Correct. Thanks for understanding Zadck.

Q u o t e:
do i have to put wall of text to get answer to very simple question?
what is estimated time of fixing this problem?

Nope, I answered it, but that was a while ago. We'll receive an update as of 12:00 pm PDT.

Hey GM. do me a favor. I just read your tos again. And in section 16 it states the server up/down time. There is nothing that says you cant be down, But nothing that says you cant be down, unless its unseene. This has happened every week for 4 weeks. its not unforseen. so therefore I demand a full refund for all the games and every month ive paid for this crap. Read it and you will see im right. Forward this to your manager as well. Id like for him to know this as well. thanks and ill be in contact with people to make sure this happens.

I dislike quoting this, but you are incorrect. I am very familiar with the Terms of Use:

Q u o t e:
Are you stupid? Read 16. its not a by law. its what you have to do. its a forseen interruption because you didnt fix it right the first time. Cant you read it as its written in 16? Your way out on the limb. no where close to 16

Araus, I am familiar with the document. Intimately so. Respectfully, I am not the one out on a limb here =/.

Sections 14, 15, 16 all cover this situation. Force Majeure simply adds an additional clause to our liability protection. It is in addition to sections 14 and 15, not in spite of them. I assure you that those sections apply to this kind of situation specifically.

Explicitly:

Q u o t e:
BLIZZARD DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE GAME OR THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED

I request that you do not besmirch my intellect, nor insult other Blizzard employees. I'd prefer to move away from this subject, and if you wish to pursue it further, then you may consult the appropriate professionals elsewhere.

Q u o t e:
That merely states that it has no LEGAL obligation to perform those tasks, not that it should or should not. The terms of use is not a guide stating how the company must or must not act but a form of legal protection for itself.

Quite so!

Q u o t e:

You never have programed I see, this is quite common. Also when it comes to hardware/software on the tech side, you can fix an issue that is actually just a symptom of the real problem. It seems to fix the problem but in reality, the problem is still there and pops up again just in a different way.

You can do a lot of fixes before you hit the true cause because one issue can lead to another making you think it is the problem not the initial issue.

An insightful post.

The realms are up and available for play, but the midsummer thing still hasn't been fixed. I still can't do the fires anywhere nor get the summon and kill dailies for the earthen ring.

>.<

I'll dig up what I can find and get back to you.

I'm a freshman in college and have had experience in computer hardware work. There is only so many pieces of hardware that can cause a certain problem and you use the process of elimination to find the one faulty piece. I know enough to know that if your a "hardware expert" and you can't figure out why the system won't work....its time to outsource your computer maintenance.

Ah, excellent!

After you graduate, you can apply for a position with us and show us how it's done =D:
