First off, I'm not the one who was banned due to illegal activity on my account, that is my room mate. However, his account was hacked prior to it. All of this happened while he was asleep.

I realize its against the forum guidelines to post on behalf of other players, but please hear me out. Its not like he can defend himself since the account is closed.

His character's name is Tuldahr, or Facebreaker of the Altar of Storms realm. He downloaded an add-on it looks like and it was carrying something malicious. Because after logging on for the first time in what looks like a week, his account was banned. I got onto the guild, and the last time he was online was 13 hours ago(at the time). This is impossible because he hadn't been playing, I saw that for myself in person.

On top of that, on WoWArmory his characters have been completely stripped. This was obviously a hacker trashing his characters and taking what gold he had. To make it worse, this hacker started making level 1 characters on all different realms, for what we can only imagine was to spam gold trading sites. The only reason we know about the level 1 characters is because of when my roomie tried to log into the forums, all of the characters were listed and grayed out.

He's been e-mailing the tech-support e-mail for account hacking and hasn't gotten any response. How long does it usually take to get a response for something like this? It's been 3-4 days. Its very dismaying, especially knowing how many hours of play time hes lost due to one screw up. Not only that, theres no way he would re-join the game right now. Money is tight, and buying the WoW Battle Chest and WotLK expansion? It isn't going to happen. Especially since he owns them in his room.

Is there anything being done about this? Does anyone know if there is any extra steps he could take? Again, I'm aware there isn't much I can do for him, since I'm not the one who got hacked, but its not like he can come here and plead his case himself.

Well, you are a good friend trying to help.

Please direct him to the information in these two stickies.

I'm afraid tech-support really won't be able to help much with this kind of thing. If his account was actioned in some way, that would be Account Admin and they can be reached at wowaccountadmin@blizzard.com.

If his email was changed, or if the account was merged into a Battle.net account, he'd need to contact our Billing Department.

First and foremost, he needs to make absolutely sure his system and email are secure.

I do wish you both the best.
