3.2 Raid Disappointing (lore)

A while back, Kaplan gave an interview (right before WotLK even came out I think) that stated Blizzard's basic plan for content.

WotLK would bring us Naxx, Sartharion, Vault and Malygos

3.1 - Ulduar
3.2 - Mystery Raid
3.3 - Icecrown Citadel

Am I alone in being disappointed with what the Mystery Raid turned out to be? I appreciate it will add a novel "four lockouts instead of two!" function, but honestly, they couldn't come up with a better lore base to try this out on?

I was hoping to see them remind us of other cool story threads that are still out there. Maybe 3.2 would be something with Deathwing. Maybe it would be something with the Emerald Dream. Maybe it would be something with Queen Azshara's forces to remind us of the Maelstrom. Maybe it would be something finally explaning the Infinite Dragonflight. Maybe it would show us the evil "Master" that Varimathras was trying to summon in the Battle for the Undercity. Whatever it was, it seemed like there were lots of threads out there they could use.

Instead, we got, "Hey, we captured these monsters. Go fight them." I mean, really? You couldn't find a better story for the "Mystery Raid" of 3.2? It's even worse though than just not using something different, because 3.2 also reminds us of how weak and pathetic the Scourge have really become. If you were going to use the Scourge, couldn't you at least add them in a dungeon that represents Scourge gains being made? I mean, honestly, Arthas is looking pathetic right now. I don't care how difficult he is for players to kill in the final raid, the fact is he's holed up in Icecrown Citadel, watching his enemies hold tournaments next to his primary base and losing minions that are getting captured and forced to battle random mercenaries out to prove themselves. I appreciate you wanted to finish building the Colleseum, but you didn't need to make it the setting for the new raids. It's disappointing that you did.

The lore elements present in 3.2 (well beyond the new raid zone) are appropiately building up to the battle with the Lich King. If you enjoy lore, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
