Hey, I have a question about the recruit-a-friend. I am sorry if this was already addressed, I did some searching around the forums and could not find my answer.

I was recently 'recruited' with the recruit-a-friend, but we do not seem to be getting any exp bonus. my friend made a LV 1 character, and we have been doing all the quests together, and killing all our mobs together. We can also summon eachother (on both of my friends characters).

Do we need to do something in order to activate the exp bonus or something?

Thank you in advance for your help :)

From all you have described thus far, Galaeda, you should be receiving the Recruit-A-Friend XP bonus.

You may wish to review the Recruit-A-Friend FAQ here, specifically page 2:

Q u o t e:
Do I always gain triple experience while I am linked to my recruit?

No. In order to receive triple experience, you must be partied with a character on a linked account and within 100 yards of one another. With this, both characters (veteran and recruit) must be present for each kill and quest completion.

Also, should monsters or quests be marked as "Low Level" or listed as gray in difficulty for either character, triple experience will not apply.

Have you been within 100 yards of each other and both present for the kill or quest turn in? If you are partied, yet killing mobs alone while your friend is not present, triple XP will not be granted.

Q u o t e:
Is quest experience tripled, too?

Yes, but only if both veteran and recruit characters are present for quest completion and if the monster or quest is not marked as "Low Level" (typically gray in difficulty, though sometimes green) for either linked character.

Check to see if the difficulty level is too low for either of you. Instead of doing gray or even green quests, try doing a yellow quest to see if either of you gain the XP bonus

Q u o t e:
Do our characters (my character and my recruit's character) have to be same level in order to receive triple experience?

No, but you must be within 4 levels of one another and meeting all other triple experiences requisites in order for both characters to receive triple experience. If this level requirement is not met, only the lower level character will receive the bonus.

For example: Should your character be 5 levels higher than your recruit, only your recruit's character will be eligible for triple experience (provided that all other requirements are met, as well).

Has your friend been playing a character within this level range? As you are a level 10, the maximum level your friends character can be is 14.

Q u o t e:
How can I tell if I'm receiving triple experience?

Triple experience will be noted in your Combat Log as follows:

"Player gains 'X' experience ('Y' exp Refer-A-Friend bonus)"

The "X" value represents the total amount of experience gained, while the "Y" value represents how much extra experience is gained as a result of the Recruit-A-Friend promotion.

For example: If a monster is normally worth 25 experience (while partied) and you kill it, should you be eligible for triple experience, your Combat Log entry will appear as "Player gains 75 experience (50 exp Refer-A-Friend bonus)".

Please check the Combat Log to confirm if the XP bonus is being gained or not. You can view your combat log by mousing over your chat window, waiting until you can see the tabs, and clicking on Combat Log tab.

I hope this well help in troubleshooting the Recruit-A-Friend XP bonus, Galaeda. Please ping this thread again if the issue persists.

Good luck!
