Don't believe everything you read, especially when it concerns a player's perception of the game, specifically a class. I just made a post in the shaman boards concerning upcoming elemental shaman -- you shouldn't have too much trouble finding it. Basically, we're improving mana spring totem so that it ends up giving 20 mana per 2 seconds, which is 50mana/5 -- for the entire group.

That's without the appropriate restoration talents.

Also, some very cool changes concerning water shield in patch 2.3. For full details, check out my post.

Lastly, once you start gearing up with outland appropriate gear, you'll notice your spell crit rise quickly, which not only allows for more damage, but save you quite a bit of mana. With my current spec, after a clearcast (triggered by a spell crit), my lightning bolts cost 99 mana.

There are many other nifty tricks to learn as well. Have fun -- the class is far from broken.
