Look im not saying they are or aren't, but just this last week ive had two guildies, and 6 people i know on farstriders go down to this site..

if it wasn't for me saying "never get anything off the curse ui site or their updateing software" a guildy named Boneu would have completely lost his account. As it was he has his toon transfered. He acted quickly to change his password. And got his restore yesterday.

For fanboys/girls of that site, I'm just sorry, but all the trouble we've had lately is from there. I don't know if its from their lack of scanning ui's poped up on there. If its their banners with evil codeing in it. or what not.

wowmatrix ui was another that i've avoided like the plague. Sorry, I just don't trust auto update programs. It's to easy for some ui to get bumped with another with the same name.

Can the blizz team investigate this site? Make sure its still legit? Sorry, but IMO when 6 people come to me screaming help something is wrong.

As I noted in a previous thread, Domaorn, if you believe a site contains malware, or otherwise places an account at risk, go ahead and report this site to our Hacks team via web form:

Select "World of Warcraft" and then "Hacks, Cheats, and Exploits" from each respective drop-down box. From there, select "Website that scams users" from the third drop-down and complete the requested information fields as they appear. We'll be happy to look into the matter further.

With that said, we encourage you to only visit sites you trust and to continually practice safe browsing habits. Additional security tips and suggestions may be found here, as well:

Q u o t e:
Blizzard why cant you guys give players a straight up answer is Curse going to get me hacked or not thats all I want to know because I unstalled it a couple of days ago beacause when I logged in all my options in interface was changed and it really freaked me out!

I'm a Blizzard representative, Allectra, not a Curse Gaming representative. I am unable to officially comment on the structure and security of the site in question. I can, however, provide an inquiring player information regarding where and how to report a potentially malicious website (if one is believed to have been found) to our Hacks team. :)

That said, I do appreciate your caution, and I encourage you to continue keeping the security of your computer and account in mind. There are unfortunately many risks out there, so it's very important that we, as end users, do all that we can to help prevent them from affecting us. Some great tips and suggestions regarding account security may be found here:

In terms of your more specific inquiry, if you're concerned about the updater, you may wish to consider manually downloading AddOns and their updates going forward. You might also want to pop over to our UI & Macros Forum (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=11114&sid=1) to discuss these observations with your fellow players, many of whom are AddOn authors and know quite a bit about these programs.
