So with all the time warner/ISP instance lag going around I have heard that using a vpn can help you get around the issue without switching ISP's. Is this frowned on by blizzard? Further as the vpn I have access to is in another city will blizzard grow paranoid when my isp toggles between two cities rather quickly as I only use the vpn on my desktop to raid and not on my laptop when I randomly login?

Lyavin,

Yes and no. Connecting through a VPN or tunneling service is not a supported play style. While doing so is possible, it's not something we recommend.

In order to protect our players from compromises we do look at where you are logging in from. If we detect odd log in attempts, we will lock accounts to protect the account from hacking. You may encounter this if you suddenly start using a VPN.

Normally when we lock and account in this manner, we'll send you an email with a link that will allow you to open the account back up on your own. I recommend making sure you can receive emails from Blizzard at your registered account should you try using a VPN service.
