Is Blizzard ever going to do anything about these spammers who think its funny to spam trade chat with that stupid * [Ability link] spam? This has been going on for longer than I can track, multitudes of people are complaining about it, and everyone who does it and gets asked to stop, simply replies with, "I dont have to, report me, blizz will just laugh it off". Seriously blizz, get on this.

Get on what, Milfiras?

If you report players who are doing this they will be investigated and appropriate actions will be taken. We can not penalize someone before they speak nor can address the issue if the people on your realm don't report it.

The Report Spam feature can be used to report these cases. Simply right click on the person's name in the chat window and select "Report Spam". That report, as well as the reports from others on your realm who do not enjoy this kind of behavior, are forwarded to our Game Masters who will review them and address the situation accordingly.

We don't laugh it off and they won't be either if a violation is reported and verified.

I can guarantee that you are wrong in that regard, Milfiras. This particular annoyance hasn't been around nearly long enough to generate the number of petitions that the other inappropriate terms you referenced have.

Our Report Spam feature is effective, when it is used. Have you been using it, Milfiras? Can you tell me with certainty that the others on your realm have also been using it? So many people threaten to report but in my experience they never bother. That is what happens, people think they were reported because someone bluffs them and when no action is taken they think that their behavior was not found to be in violation.
Q u o t e:

Almost as effective as my 20-30 requests that blizzard permanantly ban those words, filter or not, simply because there is NO productive use for them,

And would you permanently ban every variation that a creative community can come up with to circumvent such restrictions, Milfiras? Should we eliminate chat all together within the game? Because that is what it will come down to.

I agree, you shouldn't have to filter your conversations, but until we can figure out a way to hire a large number of psychics we will be unable to pro-actively action someone for violating our harassment policies.

Feel free to post in our Suggestion Forum with any changes you would like to see made to our game or policies.

BUT BUT BUT, that would also be rendered ineffective the instant the "blizzard universal technical support answer" comes into play. (For those of you who dont know what that is, open a ticket for just about ANY tech support concern, you'll find out)

You mean the instructions on how to remove from the equation the number one cause of the majority of the technical issues players experience? Yes, how horrible, troubleshooting steps, they always start with the easiest thing to do before progressing to other steps in order to resolve an issue.

Hasnt been around long enough? 6 Months? My word.

To out number the reports we receive regarding reports of people using the other words, Milfiras?

Your reports about the ability link spam don't out number your reports of the inappropriate words you referenced. Let alone all the reports across all the realms since the game was introduced.

Q u o t e:
Heres a suggestion. BRING BACK WORLD CHAT AND GET THE IDIOTS OUT OF TRADE.

Here's a suggestion. Post your request in our Suggestion Forum. The CS Forum is moderated by the Game Master Department in an effort to assist with in-game issues. We are not Developers or policy makers nor are we liaisons with them.
Q u o t e:

Hire a small handful of people to constantly monitor your chat channels?

A small handful? I'm certain someone has the equation for that, perhaps they'll post it.

Keep in mind there are currently around 230 realms, if you confine the monitoring to just the Trade channel you have to monitor both factions. You would also need three shifts per day.
Q u o t e:

Hey wise guy. You guys make MILLIONS of dollars a month. Tell yah what. Cough me over some minimum wage and in my off time, i'll continue to do what i've ALREADY been doing, monitor your chat channels, let them know im doing it, and insta-ban the idiots. PRO-ACTIVE=Spend Dollars. oh noes.

We do? It's so easy to look at a big company and assume what they make and where whatever profit the may make goes.

The point is, Milfiras, you are expecting us to have a "Zero Chances" policy. We won't do that. Our goal is to educate our players about our policies. We give them chances to correct their behavior and if they do not, and they continue to violate our Terms of Use we will take harsher actions including suspension and possibly closure.

Im done wasting my time. You guys enjoy the rest of this thread. Im getting the same place I always get with Blizz, nowhere fast.

Action>Excuses. Much Love.

I'm sorry, Milfiras, but expecting us to react to something the way you want us to and being disappointed when we don't seems a bit much. Seriously, I looked into a good chunk of your petition history and every since verified violation was actioned appropriately. The problem is, you don't see what was done and we are unable to tell you.

Blizzard isnt doing anything because there is no "SPAM" going on.

The whole this is done by 50 people, not 1 guy doing it 200 times.

Each person writting a line every min isnt spam.

Actually, participating in the "body part + ability link" activity can be considered a violation of our policies, Mikeyy, and we will action accordingly for any verified reports. That is why we allow the Report Spam feature to be used to report these.

When you have 50 people doing it at the same time it is easier to report the majority of them by right clicking on their name, it also serves the purpose of temporarily ignoring their account until you log out.
