WoW Parents please read!!!

A real life friend of mine was randomly whispered last night by someone who was outright rude to them. The player / character stated that he/she was going to hack my friend's account to get their mailing address so he/she could come and *!!# my friend's children. This player / character's reason for making this UNBELIEVEABLLY EVIL comment was this: he / she believed that my friend was a bad parent because they played WoW. Now, mind you it was well after bedtime for my friend's children and as all parents know that is time for -us- to relax. Playing WoW in the evening instead of watching tv / reading a book or whatever does -not- make you a bad parent.

However... telling someone that you are going to hack their account so you can get their address... so -you- can go *!!# their children makes you a bad person. A VERY bad person!!!

My friend put in a complain about this player / character and was told that appropriate actions were taken. However this afternoon this player / character was still playing the game. Who knows what other evil words have passed from their mind to another innocent person.

I am absolutely outraged that Blizzard feels that threatening someone's children with -premeditated *!!#- isn't grounds for account banning.

Now granted... this person wouldn't have gotten anywhere near my friend's children, even if on the very remote chance they lived in the same area. However, this does not excuse the EVIL of their statement.

Zhoie, please understand that though we take harassment of this nature very seriously we do have policies in place that apply the appropriate penalty based on the action as well as any previous transgressions that have taken place on the account and most violations of the Terms of Use do not result in instant termination of the account.

I have confirmed that the appropriate actions were taken regarding your report and if this person bothers you again please report them and one of our Game Masters will take care of it. These penalties tend to stack up and someone who does not abide by our Terms of Use will find themselves without an account eventually.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you, Zhoie.

The fact that the player was up and about within 24 hours I don't think is a hard enough wrist slap for what is described, but then again, who is to determine severity? Blizzard is in a bind and then can be called up on being unfair in their punishments.

You also do not know precisely what was said, some information presented I was unable to verify, but all verifiable interaction received the proper actions. :)

You of course are welcome to your opinion and your outrage at the situation, Reanna, I do understand your views on the issue. Please believe me when I say that all appropriate actions were taken and if this person bothers you again you simply need to report them to us and we will provide education regarding our Terms of Use.

As I have said before, those who decide to continually violate our Terms of Use eventually find themselves with a lot more free time on their hands. :)

Are you trying to say that you will track them down in real life, find out where they work, or which school they go to, and burn the respective place of work or school to the ground with a fire of Justice?

Becuase I think that would be taking it a step too far. Maybe you could just ban them from playing their account...

*laughs* Um...
