I am sorry to hear you have not been able to upgrade the account yet, Hidewarrior.
Debit cards, provided they have a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express logo, are acceptable forms of payment. Unfortunately, I cannot pinpoint why you received the “Invalid Credit Card” message, as I am sure your card works just fine.
If the problem persists, you may wish to try another credit card, purchase the game at a local retailer, or contact Billing and Account Services for assistance.

Alss, you may ant to consider a game time card. You can get then from Target, Walmart, etc. It's a 60 day card, for $29.99.
Game Cards cannot be used to upgrade an account, Blakice. They can only be used to add play time to an upgraded World of Warcraft account. This is a great idea, though, if Hidewarrior is unable to use the card for the subscription.
