Refunded for lost days?

Out of curiosity, do we get refunded for days that we pay for that are lost via Blizzard botchery? I mean, when I go out to eat and I get a plate of cold food when I ordered something hot, or if there is some other issue with the order, I get another one to replace it--usually free. The same is true when I buy an item from any store in my area. In fact, the same is true with my cable and Internet service--heck, even the local pizza shops around here will "refund" (give free) a pizza if it arrives cold or late. Will my lost time be replaced, or am I basically just giving Blizzard free money without receiving service for all the days I've thus far and continue to lose?

I'm not asking in an attempt to rant and rave. I'm asking because I'm truly curious about whether or not I'm wasting my money by paying to play this game, when I know I could pay to play some other game that DOES refund lost does, has much fewer lost days, and though may have lower quality graphics, has a more challenging gaming experience. I still consider myself a new player to WoW, having only started in Jan or Feb. Is this something that I can look forward to throughout my entire WoW experience, or have these last several months been a fluke?

Q u o t e:
Once we have resolved this issue and the realms are playable once more, we will be assessing appropriate compensation for the additional downtime for players on the affected realms.
