Ysera Forum Moderation

This morning, a new thread came across the ysera realm forums about a player who's child died last night. It wasn't a troll/joke/etc thread.

The person was posting to the ysera community at large, indicating they'd be out of game for an unknown amount of time, since they were social with a number of people from different guilds. The thread was deleted at some point this afternoon.

Can you please have a look at the realm forum moderators, and ask them what they were thinking? And then maybe tell the rest of us why the thread got deleted? There was one lowlife scum who made a "joke" about loot dropping that got reported, but apparently that was enough to get the thread itself deleted?

Seriously, the thread didn't obviously violate terms of service. The best we could come up with is that the child's name was used in the post... The 2 year old child. And somehow that constituted distribution of personal information?

Increased realm moderation is one thing. If we're supposed to use the realm forums as nothing more than recruitment forums, tell us that. Otherwise, please have a look at the moderators you've employed and the guidelines they use.

It is likely that our moderation staff felt that the nature of the post was — and obvious did as you mentioned — likely to lead to very inappropriate commentary and as such the thread was removed to prevent such issues. However, as T-Wulf mentioned, you'll want to email that address ([email protected]) should you wish to inquire about the exact reasoning.

Additionally, please bear in mind that the World of Warcraft forums are intended for discussions related to the World of Warcraft.

Sadly this thread has digressed into something that I'd prefer not to let continue.

Locked.
