GC thinks dispel is useful LOLOL

From the thread about Innervate needing a hotfix I give you this little gem about offensive dispel:
Q u o t e:
We're not sure the best way to balance abilities like this is making them countered by dispels. That just puts more pressure to have a dispeller on your team and there is a lot of reason to want one already.
1.) Offensive dispel is nearly worthless with all the buffs and trash buffs in arenas.
2.) Given #1, the mana cost of spamming offensive dispel is completely unjustified due to futility.
3.) Divine Plea is easily countered by dispel because paladins don't fart trash buffs and stack HoTs like druids
4.) Mana Tide is easily countered by simply breathing on it...

Purge = self mana burn.

Hooray for druid buffs while shamans were already far FAR below them.

This is what I like best about these forums. Player attempts to poke fun at the developers. "C'mon guys, let's call Blizzard bads for thinking that dispel is useful. Ha ha. C'mon! Guys? Guys? Hello?"

Might I suggest next time something like "I'm surprised to see anyone claim dispels are powerful in Arenas. In my experience, they don't make that much of a difference. What does anyone else think?" You might spur an actual conversation instead of earning jeers, eyerolls or dismissal. Tone is everything.

Threads like this get a reaction. That's why people post them. The only way we know if you seriously looked at a thread is if you posted a response to it. While I know you've said several times that you read all those threads, it seems like you never post in any thread that's actually constructive.

I post in constructive threads, though perhaps not the ones you would have me post in. This thread got a reaction, but not a terribly useful one from a "I want to know more about WoW's classes" POV. If the only goal of posting in these forums is to get a blue response of any kind, then I'm afraid the whole experiment is kind of a failure and we should go back to just reading more and posting rarely.

I read hundreds of posts a day. I hope that sometimes maybe just maybe offering a little bit of commentary once in awhile on how to post might end up paying dividends down the road in the form of higher quality threads. Maybe people like our OP here won't take anything home from this experience. Or maybe just maybe they might hesitate before they post next time and ask themselves "What if not everyone agrees with what I assume is blatantly obvious? Hmmm. Maybe my thread would be better as an invitation to discussion instead of trying to incite a mob to laugh at those dumb designers."

Here is what I will say on the topic: Dispel is useful, if not overpowered in many situations in PvP. If you have issues with it, perhaps you should bring them up in an intelligent post.

Q u o t e:
I read the blue trackers every day and am sometimes shocked with what I see you've taken the time to respond to. You respond to a lvl 1 about lvl 80 content. You respond to people who don't have arena teams about arena issues. You respond about class balance in raiding to people who haven't cleared Ulduar. Even more massively, you respond to people who really don't deserve a response - people who are meerly trying to bait/piss off the developers.

Don't you think that comes off as just a little bit elitist? I'm not supposed to respond to issues unless they are brought up by the best players in the game? We have plenty of communication with excellent PvP and PvE players. We don't need to put a sign on the forums that say "Must be this leet to post." That's not what WoW is about. (Now restricting only people who can converse intelligently like adults wouldn't be a bad idea.)

In general, I look for topics that relevant to discussions we've been having around the office lately. I don't analyze whether the OP is somehow qualified to have that opinion. If we agree with what they said or not, I might add that to a response. Really though I would stop giving so much attention and validation to the original poster and more to the topic itself.

Post good stuff. We will read it. You do not need a blue response to make it legit. Please do not offer your commentary on where you think we should or should not post. We're much more interested in your feedback on the classes than we run our forums.
