Can I give my account away for free?

I have several 80s, several 70+, and a few twinks is progress. There is several thousand gold in most characters accounts and numerous professions either maxed or near maxed.

I think I want to give up this game for many reasons which I'll spare you from. (Mostly because I just feel like I am ready to move on.) However, I think my account would have an immense value to many different players or potential players. So I think the best thing I could do is give my account to somebody who might enjoy it, hopefully as much as I did.

I'd give this account away to a family or friend and say nothing about it, but I don't know anyone who is interested. So all that remains is to shut this account forever or give it away for free to some wowhead who'd make good use of it.

Can I give my account away to some random joe?

I'm sorry, Adaraelyia, but only two people are EVER allowed to access the account (from the moment the account is created to the end of time). The first is the person who set up the account in their own name (you aren't allowed to set up an account in any name other than your own legal name). The second is one (1) of the children or trustees (under age 18) of the first person. Not siblings, not parents, not spouses, not friends, not strangers.
