All realms within battlegroup Emberstorm and Whirlwind should be online at this time. Should any of you encounter any issues at login or during game play, please let me know ASAP so that I may relay the information on to our technicians. :)

As an update: We believe we've found the source of those issues affecting battlegroups Emberstorm and Whirlwind and are presently working to implement a possible resolution. Once this occurs, we'll need to test those realms affected to ensure that the resolution applied appropriately and that no further issues remain. This is not an immediate process, but I'll do my best to update you along the way. :)

From our Breaking News page (for credence):

We are looking into the unavailability of several realms at the moment. I am terribly sorry for this inconvenience folks. As soon as I hear something, I'll try to give you an update. We are looking into this now.

Now, now.

I have it on good authority that we upgraded to gerbils quite some time ago.

Hamsters are so 2005.

Oh, Orlyia. I think Cairne was removed from the Breaking News window.. but it's still down. Might wanna fix that.

No, Blackwater looked to have been skipped, but Cairne is on there. It's not strictly in alphabetical order.

Tried to log in, Saw it say "Eta to prckwater raiders"

Got a chuckle outta that. At least they got rid of the question marks after each server. Seems they didn't know that the servers were down for 45 minutes before anyone woke up.

Not true, they were on this almost immediately, but I don't have an ETA yet.

Nesingwary is still not there and its not on that list either. Has it been skipped?

Thank you, looks like Anub'arak needs added as well.

I hate to ask, but is the implication that for the first approximately 2 hours of this downtime no work to fix it was proceeding?

Not at all, just trying to let ya'll know things are being worked on.

thank you for your assistance Orlyia... but any word (however vague you need to put it) on the cause?

power issue? hardware failure? gremlins?

Probably best at this point to blame the gremlins, yes.

In all honesty Panda, I thank you for the updates. I realize you are not given all the information and you are as impatient as us to know what the problem is and the amount of time till the servers come back up, letting us know you are trying is something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hehe, you have no idea.

I can't tell you where my home realm is - but it does live somewhere on that rather lengthy list :)

Not meaning to agitate the waters or anything, but when this kind of thing happens, it's not just the players with crashed servers that have to suffer. Those of us with 'up' servers are forced to suffer untold amounts of griefing, harassment, and general unpleasantry - solely because our server happens to be up and theirs isn't. Reporting all of this? It happens so fast, that's simply not feasible with the current Ticket system.

There really SHOULD be -active- monitoring on days like this. You'd be surprised how much that could cut down on GM workload.

I do hope your visitors are behaving themselves, Braddock.

I'm sure you know the drill for those that aren't.

And this folks - is exactly why extended maintenance can't be done piecemeal on a few realms at a time over a longer period of time.

Please be courteous if you are visiting another realm during this period.

Nesingwary isnt important enough to be on the list but we are still down

It's very important but a couple did get inadvertently left off the list.

It's all realms in the two battlegroups of the ones listed there. It is on the Service Status Forum post.

i just love all the silly coments that have absolutely nothing to do with the current issue, it realy helps those of us that are looking for actual info on whats going on, nothing like like having to scan 40 pages of garbage to see that theres still nothing actualy usefull being said about the issue.

Baldozar, you're always welcome to review our Service Status post for quick updates. :)

wow thankyou...

That link was a fountain of relevant information - i think we came to the conclusion it was a service outage around 3 hours ago, you know..when our service went out

You're welcome. Similarly, you're welcome not to reference that particular post.

Please note that we are unable to provide updates should none exist. :)

Q u o t e:
This tells us about as much as anything else that Blizzard has told us. Which is positively nothing. We already knew there was a service outage before this little tidbit of supposed information was posted. So get real, tell us something we don't already know.

The provision of that thread was not an update; rather, Baldozar did not wish to read through a 40+ page thread and so was provided an alternative.

That's not within my purview to give, Agamer. You're welcome to request compensation within our Suggestions Forum, though. :)

Suggestions forum isnt that the forum blizz employees read to get a quick laugh

On the contrary, good sir: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=6286660338&sid=1&pageNo=4#74

Q u o t e:
Speaking for myself, I have a great many things to take care of in a given day. From meetings to design to implementation to bug fixes, there's always something important that requires my attention in order to deliver updates to the game our customers play. Feedback from the community is important as well, and we do take time to read the forums personally.

To be perfectly honest, however, if the developers took time out of their day to respond to every suggestion made on the forums, there would be no time left to actually develop the game.

This is one of the many reasons the Community Managers exist. While we do read the forums as well, the forums are truly their domain. They collect feedback and suggestions from the community constantly and ensure matters are brought to our attention.

Because of this (and the legal concerns previously mentioned) we cannot respond to the Suggestion Forum. We do appreciate your input, however, and we have implemented many things that have been presented in that medium.

(I'm not at work today, naturally, just posting this on my own time on the weekend to help inform people.)

As an update: We believe we've found the source of those really yummy International Delights artificially-flavored coffee creamers that we've been looking for and are presently working to hand them out to everyone on our team, so they can finally have some decent-tasting coffee for a change. Once this occurs, we'll get around to working on the server issues; your server will be back up and playable sometime late this evening, just after you've given up and gone to bed for the evening. Lollzorz I can haz payraise now? QQ :)

International Delights? Please. Coffee-Mate creamers, represent. *respek knucks*

With that said, all realms within battlegroup Emberstorm and Whirlwind should be online at this time. Should any of you encounter any issues at login or during game play, please let me know ASAP so that I may relay the information on to our technicians. :)
