My friend's account downgraded to Classic?

My friend cannot currently log into the forums, however, he long ago bought WoW+BC, then quit for a long time. I recently got him to play again, and we rerolled. He made a BE Mage first, then rerolled to an UD priest. We're now 58, and he cannot enter Outlands, though he was able to make an BE Mage? After trying to figit with the game, trying to reinstall it, and checking his account status, two things happened. The first was that his account was tagged as a WoW Classic, instead of BC! So then we tried to reinsert his BC Key (which he still has in the box), then we tried try a trial account of BC, but it was stuck on the confirmation page, and would not continue past that. Then he tried to log back in, and his BE Mage was now locked when only minutes before he was able to play it. Here are some other fact that might matter?

I sent him a scroll of resurrection when he reactivated.
He sent me a trial account via recruit a friend, which I ended up upgrading to a full Classic wow.
He used to have BC a while back, and had a BE Rogue that was in the BE only areas.

By the looks of it, it seems that blizzard downgraded his account, taking his (then) 40 dollars.

What gives? We'd like a response ASAP.

No, and if he has a playable Blood Elf, he has BC.

My first instinct is that there are two accounts here and he's getting them confused.

My best recommendation would be for him to give our Billing Department a call in the morning so they can help him sort this out.

He only has 1 account, we tried that. Is that all we can do?

What could have caused this?

I'm not sure, this is the first I've ever heard of this type of scenario. Billing should be able to tell him more.

Apparently (it was an older thread) a while ago a few keys bought electronically were entered then later the account was "reverted". It was fixed, though, as announced later in the thread.

That would be something known to Billing, hence my recommendation to contact them :)
